Directions by Bus City Island is located near Pelham Bay Park on the northeast border of The Bronx, just south of Westchester County. Because of its central location, the SMYC is easy to reach from all parts of the Metropolitan area. We are located just 13 miles from midtown Manhattan, 7 miles from northern New Jersey at the George Washington Bridge and 15 miles from the Tappan Zee Bridge. Local Bus Service From Pelham Bay Park Station, Bronx, NY. BX Bus # 29 to City Island, NY. Fare is $ 2.00 (exact change or metrocard, no bills accepted). Express Bus Service The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) operates Express Bus service between City Island and the east side of Manhattan on their BxM7B Line. There are only two buses per day in the morning and two in the evening and service runs Monday-Friday only. Express Bus service is also available to and from Manhattan from the Pelham Bay Station, # BxM7A, which operates on a full schedule, 7 days a week. The fare is $5.00 (exact change or Metrocard).
